These were taken in Kerncliff Park in Burlington, Ontario. Kerncliff is a trail-head on The Bruce Trail. The Bruce trail is an 800+km trail that runs along the Niagara Escarpment from Niagara Falls in the south to Tobermory in the north, and this particular trail head was less than a kilometre from my house during the 3.5 years that I lived in the area.
Back in the later summer of 2010, I packed up my Iplehouse YID Aaron and took him for a hike (it's all photos from here):

The angle of this photo is weak, but I love that his tie is actually flapping in the wind here. |
I think my dog is closing his eyes so that he can pretend that he's not sharing the shot with the doll. |
Having just recently come back from Texas, I know exactly what you are talking about in reference to the heat - taking photos of Henry (aka HolidayswithHenry.blogspot.com) while out proved to be very hot work indeed!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine!
DeleteAnd I need to go and catch up on Henry's adventures! :)
Iplehouse YID Aaron looks like he's having deep, broody thoughts. Very sharp, elegant style your Mr. Aaron has.
ReplyDeleteYou dog looks like "I'm not speaking to him, either." ;-)
Heh, that sounds about right - they're probably regarding each other aloofly. ;)
DeleteCool pictures! Aaron looks awesome! Lucky you to have lived so near to this trail, it's a beautiful area.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteIt was a lovely area - I really miss being so close to the fabulous hiking spots.
Great outdoor photos of your Aaron. My niece lives in Texas, so I do hear the stories of how hot it gets! Your dog is probably thinking: "If you shows this photo of me with the doll to my friends, I will just die!"
ReplyDeleteHeh, that's perfect - a different sort of dog-shaming! ;)
DeleteAaron looks right at home there in the woods. Love the shot of the dog as it makes Aaron look tiny again! He looks pretty big in the other photos. :) Hopefully it will cool off soon down there in TX, I know it's hard to have a lot of energy outdoors when it's so hot!
ReplyDeletePlaying with perspective is one of the most fun parts of doll photography, isn't it?
DeleteAnd thanks for the weather-wishes! :)
These are really beautiful scenes; Aaron adds to their beauty and your dog is also a beauty.
ReplyDeleteThe heat has me housebound as well.

Thank you! :)
DeleteThe heat really does limit how much time we can spend outside, doesn't it. I knew about it before we moved, but it was still a bit of a surprise anyway...
I nominated you for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award, see my latest post :-) !
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll go check it out! :)
DeleteGreat photos but yes the heat can put us off taking dolly photos, can't it! I know that here it has been sunny and hot for months and although I love it, it does take that bit of extra planning. Love your dog, he's so very 'regal' looking.

My dog thanks you for the compliment! ;)
DeleteMoving during the summer wouldn't have been my first choice, but hopefully soon I'll get used to it and be able to sit with you on the "I love it" bench! :)
Beautiful photos! I actually love tromping on the highest incline of the treadmill, but I can't imaging hiking in nature. That sounds like torture!
ReplyDeleteDid you run into other people when you were taking pics? If so, did you hide the doll away or keep photographing?
I ran into a few people on the trail - I just said hello and kept shooting.
DeleteI don't know if other people have found this, but I've found that if you have a big doll like this guy and are using a large camera people assume you're a serious artist and don't treat you too much like a crazy person. A playline doll and a camera or point-and-shoot and people give you a wide berth and frown a lot.
But maybe that's just me! ;)
Hi JS!
ReplyDeleteThese photos of your Aaron are really great, I wish I could take outdoor shots half as good. Love the one with your dog, it made me chuckle. :)
Hugs,
X
Thanks!
DeleteThere's always a lot of trial and error with these, at least for me - and sometimes more error than anything else! LOL ;)
Wow this pictures are great!!! Loved to see them :D
ReplyDeleteAlso love the second to last pic, with your dog!
Thank you!
DeleteI think my dog would love to know he's getting attention this way! :)
