In the box. |
It's Friday, so it's time to unbox another Funko POP!
Up this time around is Captain Hook from the
Once Upon a Time line. I confess, I'm not a huge fan of the show, but there's something about the intentionally cheesiness of it that means that I've watched about a third of each season (full seasons are a little too much cheese for me). It might seem odd to pick up a figure from a franchise I'm not a huge fan of, but I just really love Hook's coat - I just love a nice flowing trench coat/ greatcoat (if someone ever got the license for figures of the characters from Black Sails, I would pick those up in a second - that show has some great coats!).
The figure is a fairly standard POP figure, although by having one arm raised, that at least gives he a slightly more dynamic pose than a lot of them do. The paint is decent, although there are a few chips on the head. And most importantly for me (since it's the whole reason I picked this up), the coat has some great detailing.
On with the photos!

I watched the first few seasons but they lost me on the Frozen season. This version is neat but I think I like the animated one better.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the Frozen season was probably the weakest. I think it's gotten better again, but since I'm in it for the cheese, I might not be the best judge...
DeleteI have been meaning to check that show out on Netflix for a while...I love cheesy shows! So many shows, so little time, lol. He is a great figure, regardless. I like his expressive eyebrows and his tiny little hook. :)
ReplyDeleteI do like the hook - that might be my second favourite part, after the coat.
DeleteAnd I bet you'd enjoy the show - you should check it out if you get the chance! :)
I watched a bit of the first season too, but gave it up quickly. I think my attention span is too short to follow series anymore. Without knowing or having seen his real life character, the best I can say about this figure is that's a sweet coat and vest.
ReplyDeleteHeh, well the coat *is* the best part, so the rest is just gravy! ;)
DeleteOh my gosh, I didn't know they had OUAT pop vinyls. Thanks for posting about this. I will have to keep an eye out for the Regina one as that looks to be my favourite of these.
ReplyDeleteI really love that they did include a hook on his wrist instead of a normal hand. I do agree, nice detailing on the clothing and that facial beard is just adorable on a pop vinyl!
I'm glad to have helped by pointing them out! Or should I say enabled? ;)
DeleteI LOVE OUAT, I guess I do love cheesy stuff haha! I hated the frozen arc and I was starting to lose faith in the series but luckily it went better after that, it has been greatlately imo.
ReplyDeleteLove captain hook and I love you show all the sides of this figure, as I only have seen the front before. I'm not into this figures because I would probably would want them all hahaha
I prefer the Evil Queen figure though, can't help it, She's my fav *_*
They should do a Dark swan figure, that'd be awesome X)
That would be a good one! If these sell well enough, I'm sure they'll do another series with some extra variants, so we'll see! :)
DeleteHi JSarie! I totally understand what you are saying about coats and trench coats. I love a nice coat and i am happy to say that two of my favourite space pirates wear some awesome coats (and the fact that they are both dressed in my favourite colour is the cherry on top).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, back to the POP figure! The coat sure is nice and the earring is a nice detail.
Keep having fun!
Arlette
Heh, a good coat is the #1 accessory for all pirates space or sea, isn't it? ;)
