A few months ago, Carpatina - the doll and medieval fashion company - announced an upcoming new doll, Diya. I was excited enough by the hype to preorder her, and today she made her grand arrival.
Carpatina's dolls are 18" playline dolls with full vinyl bodies which are slightly slimmer than the similar-height American Girl type dolls (I reviewed this body type last year in the form of
Carpatina's Veronika, so I won't go into the body in depth with this doll as the engineering and size are identical). The new features of Diya are her face sculpt and her unique skin colour. As with all Capatina releases, one of her selling features is the detail in her clothing, in this case her Anarkali Dress with what hand embroidered trim.
Before we begin, I need to apologize for the photo quality: the rainstorms that I mentioned the other day are still ongoing, so it was quite dark for most of these.
And with that out of the way, let's open this box and take a look at Diya!

A parting glance. |
The embroidery is gorgeous, congrats on her arrival! she's so pretty~
ReplyDeleteThanks! Carpatina really does a fabulous job on all of their doll clothes, don't they? :)
DeleteHello there! She looks beautiful in her outfit. I really like her face which is different from the other Carpatina dolls. I like the fact that you chose the brown eyes version instead of the green eyes one.
ReplyDeleteKeep having fun!
I hope the rainstorms will be over soon.
Thanks! :)
DeleteI'll be curious to see owner pictures of the green-eyed version too. I didn't like that option as much in the sales photos, but I know sometimes the owner photos end up looking better than those promotional ones.
She is lovely and yes the detailing on her outfit is amazing as with most of these dolls that I've seen. I like her expression and subtle face makeup.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I would love a rainstorm lol.
They really do a great job on these outfits, don't they?
DeleteAnd heh, I'll hope that some of my rain comes your way then! ;)
Nice! Mine just got here today, I'm about to take pics. She's my first Carpatina doll ever.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! My Diya waves to yours - can't wait to see your pics. :)
DeleteShe's a very gorgeous doll with a nice outfit. I feel like she should have come with more jewelry though. Maybe some bracelets, but at least those are easy to find. Congrats on getting her!
ReplyDeleteTrue some bracelets would have completed the look. I should take some more photos now that I've put her earrings in - they help complete her style, I think. :)
DeleteDiya has a striking face. I like the detail of her dress. These dolls are surprisingly smaller than the regular 18-imch American Girl-type doll. Thanks for the comparison photo.

She does have a unique expression on her face, doesn't she? Even though they're quite a bit smaller than AGs, there are a few other all-vinyl dolls that they can clothes-share with, so that's always good. Although I'm so fond of Carpatina's clothes that I'm usually putting their clothes on other brands rather than the other way around!
DeleteShe's pretty! Is she really that pink in skin color?
ReplyDeleteI'd probably describe her a being a rosy brown. The outfit definitely makes her look more pink than she is though - I'll have to take some photos of her undressed (or in a different outfit) to de-pinkify her. :)
DeleteShe's cute - I like her wide smile. I think she looks more graceful than the AG dolls, but sometimes I am partial to slimmer dolls ;-P
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting her. She's a lovely addition to your collection.
Thanks! She does have more of a dancer's body than the AG's doesn't she? ;)
DeleteI like this size of doll and that she is all vinyl. Her skin colour is great as is her outfit. In the comparison she looks almost delicate compared to the chunky AG but I like that. I look forward to seeing her again here on your blog.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to trying her in some new outfits and seeing what might work for her! :)
DeleteHi JS,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new arrival, I always enjoy seeing the different dolls and figures you order. I quite like her face and that very cheeky smile, but is she as pink as she looks on my screen?
Hugs,
X
Thanks! :)
DeleteShe does have some pink blushing on her face, but her vinyl is really more brown - the dress just plays up the blushing, I think.
My, she's pretty! And with a distinctive expression.
ReplyDeleteThe detail on the outfit is great.
Thanks! I think they did a great job of shaping her mouth and eyes in an expressive way, didn't they? :)
DeleteCongratulation on this cutie! I love her dress/sari embroidery accents, very authentic.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love the outfit too. :)
DeleteNice! I didn't know Carpentina was releasing a new doll..I'll have to check her out! I love the size comparison with the doll line up as it gives a nice idea of her size. She looks really beautiful and her dress is amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteShe's actually on sale right now, in case you're tempted! ;)
Hello JS,
ReplyDeleteShe is lovely. I love the facial detail and her costume.
big hug
Giac
Thanks, Giac! :)
DeleteWow, thanks for the review on her. I see what you mean about the detailing on her clothes. Very intricate and that skin colour is fantastic. I love her face sculpt too.
ReplyDeleteThanks! My only regret is that I didn't order some extra outfits along with her! :)
