The Wellie Wishers and their bunny sidekick. |
They're cute, but the question I found myself asking was whether they're actually significantly different from similar lines from companies like Paola Reina or Corolle. I don't have an answer to that, but thinking about it, I'm considering doing some comparisons, but at the moment I only have a couple of examples of the doll around: a Hearts for Hearts Surjan, and a Paola Reina Las Amigas Carol (who has just arrived and so been photographed yet). But since I have a collection of unused giftcards sitting around, I'm thinking of hunting down another doll in this size.
But I since I haven't quite decided which one I thought I'd put the question to you: do you have a favourite playline doll in this size range? Which ones do you think have the best faces, bodies, and/or hair? Any thoughts about quality, price and availability?
I quite like the Paola Reina dolls, although I only have the one of them. I have never had a Corolle doll but thought they looked sweet and have seen one in real life in Harrods in London. I also like the Hearts 4 Hearts but again have never seen one in real life. I like the look of the new Wellie Wishers, but I think I like their colourful boots and outfits more. I do like their little legs, they are sweet looking and remind me of the AG dolls, I've always thought the leg shape was my favourite part of those dolls.
ReplyDeleteThey do have similar legs, don't they? Definitely part of the same "family" as the bigger dolls! :)
DeleteI love Hearts 4 Hearts. I am not really interested in this size doll, but the cuteness won me over.
ReplyDeleteHeh, yeah the cuteness got to me in the end as well!
DeleteI didn't pay any attention to these whatsoever up until today. I saw Black Doll Collecting's post and was overcome with the cuteness factor! Willa and Camille are my favorite, but they are all really cute. Personally, the only dolls in this range I own are the H4H girls which I absolutely love. I am so excited for the re-release as I'm hoping to get Nahji as well as Shola and Tipi if they re-release them as well! I would love to see some reviews of the Welly Wishers though as I know my daughters would really like them! They seem to be a bit pricey for me at $60 though. I'm not sure if they are really worth it.
ReplyDeleteTheir faces remind me a lot of those older BFC Ink dolls!
I'm excited to snag Nahji when the H4H dolls come back too - I've been kicking myself for not picking her up several years ago (when I found her on clearance even!), so I'm excited for that one too! :)
DeleteI have Nora by Paola Reina and Rahel by Hearts 4 Hearts. I don't have any Corolle dolls this size. The Corolle dolls' eyes are a bit too small in my opinion. A comparison with Paola Reina and Hearts 4 Hearts would be great, particularly Hearts 4 Hearts since the dolls are being re-released and are at a better price point than the WellieWishers, which are cute, but I was hoping their price would be around $40 max.

Yeah, they strike me as being priced a little to high for what they are, but I suppose the sales numbers will dictate whether they go on sale quickly (I decided to pick up one of them, but at a lower price point I'd be happy to make them a duo).
DeleteI actually can't help with your question as I don't collect play line dolls in this size but I do see them often in the stores. They're similar to MSD size right?
ReplyDeleteI will say that cage in the shop window is too cute.
They're a little shorter than MSDs, but have pretty similar widths, so they do wear close to the same clothing sizes, yup.
DeleteI was tempted to buy that bunny cage, but it was priced a little higher than I'd like - if it goes on sale though...
