A case of Hot Toys and Sideshow Toys figures. |
What's more fun that watching your cousin-in-laws bargain for cheap souvenirs? Depending on your personality there might be a few different answers to that question, but for me the answer is checking out the doll and action figure shops in the same area!
MBK Center is a massive shopping mall in Bangkok, the 6th floor of which is primarily market stalls rather than actual shops. But along with the discounted t-shirt and souvenir booths, there were a variety of collectible and toy stalls which I thought it would be fun to share.
As with my other holiday photos, apologies in advance for the camera phone photo quality.

Luckily (or unluckily, depending on how you see it), none of the prices were so spectacular that I was tempted to pick anything up, but I still enjoyed seeing what was available!
Wow, it's interesting to see the IT dolls displayed like that...so many dols everywhere! Were the prices more so on the steep end compared with US prices?
ReplyDeleteSome of the prices were about equal (mostly for the Hot Toys figures), but the IT dolls were mostly around 15-20% lower priced.
DeleteThe price wasnt lower than US price. But for asia, the price was considered pretty good. Much much lower compared to when you buy online from asia distributor. I bought 2 dolls from this store that sell Fr and barbie . And the owner was very kind n helpful.

DeleteOh, thanks for the second Barbie-FR photo. I LOVE seeing them. Seeing them in person must have been fun ;-D
ReplyDeleteIt was! The prices weren't as low as I'd hoped, but just being able to see them all in person was worth checking the stalls out!
DeleteWow, that last stall would be bliss to me.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? It was brilliant to see all those dolls on display!
DeleteOh what fun your are having! The IT dolls look to be the larger variety (16"). Even if you didn't buy anything, it must have been nice to see them.
ReplyDeleteIt's true, even window shopping is fun! :)
DeleteAnd those dolls in the front are the 16" ones - I think there were some smaller ones in back, below the Barbies, but I wasn't able to get a decent photo of them.
Oh my goodness, those shops are brilliant...all those dolls! I'd have had sooo much fun looking (and probably buying) some of those! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing!
Hugs Sharon in Spain x
It was too much fun looking at them all. If I hadn't been short on luggage space who knows who might have come home with me! ;)
DeleteHi JS!
ReplyDeleteIt must have seemed like you were in dolly/figure heaven, how wonderful to see so many in one place. Thanks for sharing the photos.
Hugs,

Dolly/figure heaven is the perfect description for it! :)
DeleteIt must be fun going doll shopping in new places. One of the things that endeared me to Mr. BTEG before we were married, was that we both loved spending time in a toy store.
ReplyDeleteIt really is. I was lucky at this place. I hadn't planned on going figure shopping there (I actually thought that floor was all artists and souvenirs, but my cousin-in-laws were buying paintings from an artist with a stall on the same floor, so while they chatted, I wandered - and that's how I found the toys! :)
Deletemy parents are going there and i want a collector barbie from 90s from there....please tell me the location of this barbie store please please please!!!! :(
ReplyDeleteIt's just down the street from the National Stadium, so the easiest way to get there is to take the Skytrain to the National Stadium station (there are signs for the mall, but it's hard to miss). Once inside it's up on the sixth floor on the far wall (so they would need to go past the t-shirt booths, the painters, the souvenir stands and get to the very back wall).
DeleteI hope that helps! :)
thank you thank you thank you! ure a life saver! if i get to own a gold label barbie it wil be all because of you and your blog...i am from pakistan and the dolls i collect that are available here are either playline(the new dolls are so pricy plus not upto my taste) or pink and black label.. gold label or limited edition dolls are not available here...thanks a million billion!!
DeleteI'm glad I could help. I hope you and your parents are able to find the doll(s) you're looking for! :)
DeleteIm so sad! I went to MBK but i cant find this shop! I have no idea where this shop is!
ReplyDeleteOh no! I wonder if they moved?
DeleteAre they selling some wrestling figure there? I'm planning to have my vacation to Bangkok next month. Your answer will helps me a lot. Thank's pal!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the slow reply. I've actually heard that the shop has moved - it's been almost two years since I was there, so I'm not sure what they'll have now. I hope you had good luck with your figure-hunting though!
