A Quick Update

I haven't posted for a month so I thought I'd pop in quickly to say a quick hello. I've been out of town (my mother had surgery last month and I've been staying with her as she recovers), so I haven't had time to post with my usual frequency - and that's aside from the fact that my collection is back home!  I have been trying to keep up with everyone's new posts, although I haven't been able to comment as much as I'd like.

While I'm here, I thought I'd show two new additions of mine. The first are some fast food toys: the McDonald's Happy Meal Toys of the month include figures of the DC Super Hero Girls, and I've picked up two of them, Supergirl and Bumblebee.
Bumblebee and Supergirl: They're not as detailed as the standard figures,
but by fast food toy standards, they're decent.

And then just the other day my mother surprised me with a gift: the new limited run Hudson's Bay Company Barbie!
HBC Barbie. I'm not usually an in-box collector, but I love this
packaging so much that I haven't been able to bring myself to
unbox her yet!
The back of the box.

I probably won't be back to posting regularly until November, but hopefully I'll have the opportunity to squeeze in a retro week post or two.  I hope October is treating you all well! :)

  2. I hope that your mother recovers well after her surgery!

And congratulations on getting the Hudson’s Bay Company Barbie as a gift! I saw a news flash on that over here in our little country and she is beautiful!

Have a wonderful October and take care!

  3. I hope your mom is doing well! What a nice surprise for you, especially since Hudson's Bay is a Canadian company, even a Canadian icon?

When my girls were little, we had a plastic bin full of kids' meal toys to keep the girls occupied on long trips. They're usually not bad for their size, and if we lost one, it was not a big deal. Will some of your dolls get these little superheros to play with?

    1. It's true about HBC - and she actually bought her from The Bay as well!

And that's a good point about the Happy Meal figures being toys for toys - I'll have to do that! :)

  5. I'm really glad you're okay. I had been wondering where you had gone. Sorry to hear about your mum's surgery. Hope she is doing well and on the way to recovery!

Oh my gosh, your mum is so generous. I have been reading up about that Barbie. You're lucky to be able to have gotten her. It's a shame that edition will never be seen where I live. But I'm with you, I'm not usually the kind of collector who keeps things in their boxes but I'd do the same with this one. It just looks so nice. Big congrats!

And glad to hear from you! Take your time. We'll all still be here when you get back and are ready to post again or have time!

  7. Nice! Not to ignore that gorgeous Hudson Bay Barbie, but for fast food premiums, Bumblebee & Supergirl are pretty good

  8. Hi jSarie,

I hope your mother's recovery is uneventful.

I didn't know about the Happy Meal DC Super Hero Girls. Thanks for sharing the info.

Congrats on the Hudson Bay Barbie. It would be difficult for me to debox her, too, but I know you will eventually.

  9. Great to hear from you again, jS! I haven't seen the DC Superhero girls happy meal toys yet, but they look pretty cool from your photos. That new Barbie is goregous!! I don't blame you for keeping her in the box.

  10. Nice to see you posting JS, I hope your mum is on the mend now.
Love the Barbie, she looks gorgeous from what I can see in your photo, the box does look nice too, I'd be reluctant to debox her too. A very nice pressie I have to say :)
We don't have those Superhero girls here in McDonalds, at the moment I think it's Pokemon toys...but I will keep my eyes open!

  12. Nice to see a post from you! Hope your mom is recovering well. Nice that you were able to stay with her to help care for her. I did get the Hudson Bay Barbie from TheBarbieCollection.com. She came last week just before we left for Chicago. I opened her yesterday and already gave her an articulated body! I am not one to keep my dolls in the boxes for very long!
