Out of the Basement: Sasha

As I mentioned in my post about the short-lived Moni line, I have a fond nostalgic feeling towards Sasha dolls.  My two (a dark-haired Gregor and a Sasha baby) are in storage, but my sister's old dolls were packed away in my mother's basement, so I was able to dig them out.

Sasha Baby:  This is the oldest of the three.
Sasha Baby #2: This one is the youngest of the three.

I was pleasantly surprised by how intact they all were - aside from some wild hair and a dress that needs ironing on the big one, they're all in solid shape.  And I know my sister played with them extensively, so that's a real testament to their construction!

    1. It's fantastic to plan for that - I'm sure your daughter will appreciate in the future. I think in this case it was mostly just luck!

    1. We were lucky, it's true. It was a benefit of not having the extended family living in the same country - we might not have seen people very often, but when we did they always brought nice toys! ;)

  3. I'm not familiar with these dolls. They look very... Nordic? Are they from another country?

    1. Good eye! :)
They're not Nordic, but they are from Europe (although in looks they're actually supposed to be neutral - the coffee-colour was originally supposed to read as any/every ethnicity). They were designed in Switzerland and produced at various points in Germany, then the UK, and then Germany again (these ones are from the UK run).
Ours came to us via Belgium (where we had a set of grandparents) and Switzerland (where my dad worked for a few years in the 80s).

  5. I used to want a brunette Sasha and a Caleb (the black boy).

I did not know that there were any red-haired Sasha dolls. Thanks for showing. They're all cute, but that one really pops.

    1. It's funny how the hair colours change their whole look, isn't it?

My off-in-storage Gregor is the dark-haired one, so some time when I have access to him again, I should get a photo of him with the blondes and the ginger just to see how they all compare together.
