Out of the Box: Union Jack (Hasbro's Marvel Universe)

I haven't had time to restring the Ginny dolls yet, so how about an action figure while we wait?

I've been catching up on the All New Invaders series recently (the final issue comes out next week), so it feels like the perfect time to share Union Jack, the Captain America equivalent from the UK (despite the name, Captain Britain has a very different role/history in the Marvel Universe).

This particular feature is labelled as the modern/Joey Chapman Union Jack (there have been two others in the comics), but given the face-covering uniform, you could easily put him on display and tell people he's the Lord Falsworth or Brian Falsworth character and no one would need be the wiser (unless they noticed the belt that looks exactly like the one from the covers of the 2007 mini-series).

In the Box
The back of the box.
As with all the figures from this line, Union Jack is 3.75"/9.5cm and has an impressive 14 points of articulation: ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, wrists, chest and neck.  He has a solidly detailed paint job, and (as mentioned) his belt looks exactly like the one in the comics.  Since his two accessories are his pistol and knife, you can pose him exactly as he looks on the cover of the London Falling trade, should you so desire.

Doing the "London Falling" pose. Unfortunately the
position of his left hand means it's almost impossible
to get the knife to stay in his hand.

In any case, this is a fun figure with great articulation.  He's my desk figure for the month, so I'm entertaining myself by letting him hang around:
Hanging around.  Literally.

    1. Thanks.

I have the 70s-costumed Captain Britain, but I've tempted to pick up the modern one in this size too. One of these days!

  2. Hi JS!
As you are aware, I know very little about action figures, but Union Jack looks pretty formidable, I don't think I'd like to run into him on a dark night anytime soon! LOL!

    1. Heh, the dark hooded mask doesn't give off a friendly vibe, does it? ;)

  3. He does look really fun to pose! I am so used to my brother's old action figures that it's pretty cool to see them with such nice articulation. His knees remind me of Liv dolls and judging from the first photo, he looks like he can kneel really well! I bet he is fun to play with when you take a computer break. :)

    1. He is! The articulation on this line is very well done, so Liv dolls are probably a solid comparison for them. :)

  4. LOL, I like that Farrah Lily compared his knees to Liv dolls. We sure know our articulation!

    1. Right? There should be more figures that can do double duty like this.
