Funko Friday: Winter Solider (Captain America: Civil War edition)

Thanks to a recent sale I've picked up a number of new Funko Pop figures. In the interests of not boring non-Funko fans, instead of spending a couple of weeks posting nothing but them, I'm going to save them for Fridays only. Since these figures are fairly standard, barring something unusually unique I won't be doing a full review for each one, which means that after these posts will all be primarily photo posts.

First up in this series is Winter Soldier from the upcoming movie Captain America: Civil War.  Let's open up the box and see what he's like!

  1. I like how detailed his outfit and gun is. And even though these types of dolls have such simple face expressions, I love how expressive they are just by the eyebrow placements and nose shape. This Winter Soldier looks ready to break some heads.

    1. He does, don't he?

I used to find the Pop figures to be a little generic, but I've grown into thinking that the subtle differences and details are actually pretty impressive, it's true.

  3. He looks fierce. He means business. He has got all the gear necessary to complete his mission.
    Thanks for the review.
    Keep having fun!

  4. Very detailed. I thought he was one of those things with the wobbly head that my son loves and collects....but I now see otherwise once removed from the box. Cute!

    1. This one technically is a bobble head, but the spring is so tiny that the head doesn't actually move much. Most of the Funko figures aren't built that way, but the Marvel characters are for some licensing reason (I think another company holds the rights for figures, and by making them bobbleheads they become an exception).

  5. This funko figures seems to be pretty popular everywhere, they sell them in videogames stores here in my city.
I love the winter soldier character, and they did a great job with him too. I think its super hard to take a standar figure with a very simple style and make recognizable characters out of it. I think they succeeded here.

    1. It's true, they seem to have done a good job with this one.

These Funko figures really are everywhere - even drug stores here carry them, which always strikes me as very random!

  7. I like the alliteration of Funko Friday! They're really cool, but I haven't want to buy any for myself.

  8. Funko Friday sounds great! For such minimal facial features, it's amazing how much personality these little guys can have. I agree on how nicely detailed his outfit and hair are! I haven't gotten sucked into the Funko Pops quite yet, but I was very tempted to get Elliot, Gertie and ET the last time I was in TRU!

    1. Heh, watch out! With the huge figure line-up they have once you start buying them it becomes an addiction - the seem to multiply when you're not looking! Or maybe that's just me...

    2. I am sure you are right and that's why I am hesitant to make the first purchase! ;)
