The Alpha Flight Minimates, in the box. |
This two-box set is a good example of why I wasn't quicker to get into collecting these toys. I really only wanted two of the Alpha Flight figures: the twins. And of course they separated them into two different sets, which means that I needed to either pay a premium to someone who had the full series and had unboxed it, or buy the whole thing. I did the latter, so instead of two new figures, I now have eight.
Grumpiness about the inability to purchase individual figures aside, overall I was quite impressed with these - each figure had a solid amount of detail and clearly looked like the characters from the comic. The accessories were decent as well, and included an ice effect for Snowbird, air platforms for the flying characters, and a hand-holding joint for the twins, (who also each had two hair options although Aurora's dark wig doesn't actually fit on her head).

Sasquatch: I like the way they built up a base figure to capture this character's size. |

The full team. |
It's really frustrating when you can't just purchase the ones you really want, isn't it? These figures are really cool, though, and I love little green Marrina :). You have such a wide diversity of doll collections and your blog is always an interesting read. I feel like I am learning about so many new (to me) doll and figurine lines through you. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'm glad it's interesting! :)
DeleteMarrina is a fabulous shade of green, isn't she?
I like the sasquatch a lot. It's a smart marketing step to put the twins in two different packages, everybody will want those two together! Although you didn't really want eight, they do look cool together :-).
ReplyDeleteThat is the bright side! :)
DeleteAnd you're right, it is clever marketing - I'm sure I'm not the only one who bought both boxes just because of the split twins.
OMG you do have such a variety of dolls/figures, I can hardly keep up with them all. The only figure I have is a Figma! I agree with Night Owl, very clever marketing, but frustrating for you. Still you could sell the others on. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Variety is the spice of life, so that must apply to dolls and figures as well, right? ;)
DeleteYou're right about selling the others on... As long as I don't fall for the collection all together!
LOL, the handhold option makes them look adorable!
ReplyDeleteIt's a cute accessory, isn't it? I love that they came up with that! :)
DeleteOMG, Toy Biz did the Alpha Flight twins!?! Congrats on having them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read up on AF for some time. White hair on the twins? Hmmm ...
Yup, toy Biz did a whole line of AF figures in the late '90s - pretty decent ones, actually.
DeleteAnd the hair colour is one of those things that goes back and forth in the comics - it's hard to keep track of! ;)
